Playing the pan pipes
But once a year (and it is coming soon) Market street gets turned over to the Festival of Art. This year it will be the 26th and 27th of July from 10-5. Street performers, musicians, photographers, painters, glass artists and more.
All the restaurants will be open so even the culinary arts will be represented. The art of the Brewer will be available to try at the Market Street Brewing Company (a modest fee will get you a 5oz sample of each of their micro-brews).
There is something for everyone from 4 to 104 (those outside that range there is ice cream at the Olde World Cafe, Donnas and Market Street Coffee and Tea)

Just a Little Off the Top... Please!
The Beach House - Tanning, Hair & Nails on West Market Street in Corning is a little hidden gem on the street. Not an exclusive, fancy experience... but if you are looking for an informal "git-r-done" service at AMAZING prices, truly accommodating to "walk-ins" then this is the place to head to!

CRAZY DAZE is coming to Corning's Gaffer District
Corning’s Gaffer District’s a festival of art
Call for Volunteers
CORNING, NY -- Corning’s Gaffer District Festivals and Promotions will host a two day celebration of fine arts and crafts on Saturday & Sunday, July 26th & 27th from 10am-5pm on Corning’s Historic Market Street. A festival of art is a wonderful event for our area and we simply couldn’t hold the festival each year without the support of dozens of volunteers. The volunteers are truly the success of our local event. If you are interested in volunteering for this year’s event, please contact Cheri Crozier at 607-974-7818 or croziercl@corning.com.

Virgil Cain, Rockwell and Margaritas
Just off Market Street (barely) is the Rockwell Museum of Western Art. Three times a year in the summer they hold Music, Margaritas and Sunsets on the Terrace events.
Seen here playing at the June event was local musician Virgil Cain. The weather was warm and hazy, the music was vibrant and eclectic, and those Margaritas - well they were perfect.
So come and join us on July 16th as the Tumbleweeds perform on the terrace, 3 floors above the street. Look ouit out at the beautful hills that surround Corning, while chilling out to cool music and sipping some of the best Margaritas for miles around,

Goddess Athena at Aniellos Pizzaria
A "Great" day in the life of a dog... lunch at Aniello's !
I remember when Aniello's was across the street (where my favorite coffee shop Market Street Coffee & Tea is now). Even today when I stand in this pizzeria my nose brings me back to good memories of football games and young friends.
Trivia Question: What is it that makes this pizza soooo addicting? Send me your answers!
Another nice feature of our Market Street... Outdoor Tables. They're wonderful on a warm & breezy Finger Lakes day and provide a family friendly environment for ALL your members... just ask Athena. Her enjoyment of that cheesy pie was quite apparent!
Athena and her parents were visiting Corning's Market Street from West Chester, PA. Athena is 165pds. and 33 inches high at the withers! Whoa!!! I think I saw this trio order 2 Pizzas!
Come visit and have your morning coffee, lunch or dinner outdoors! Great way to make new friends and enjoy fun conversations with passerbys!

The Tea Chest - Market Street, Corning, NY
We’ve all heard of the healing properties of herbs and teas enjoyed for centuries around the world. I happened to be nursing a minor but irritating back strain at the time of my visit, so Sonya suggested one of her delicate Red Teas from South Africa, a wonderful anti-oxidant whose properties might help increase blood flow to my inflamed backside. Ouch!
Sonya is a wealth of knowledge about each and every one of her teas and the benefits they can bring to what ails you or simply to comfort you. Be sure to stop by and enjoy a consult and a cup of steaming, or chilled, tea. The smells alone make you feel so gooood!
Not only was my tea experience delicious and aromatic but I was charmed by Sonya’s expertise and this NEW Old World experience right here in our town.
*The Girls enjoying a stop at the fine and friendly Tea Chest on Market Street, where they also picked up more “Build a Bracelet” beads along the Finger Lakes trail. What fun!!!

This morning it was warm and sticky and as we sat there (actually I sat - Gilda only does stand and lie down) drinking coffee Rick came out with a kiddie cup of vanilla soft serve and offered it to Gilda. Well let's just say Rick now has a new girlfriend - instant bonding.
The funny thing though is that for a 100 pound dog with what seems like a foot long tongue not only was the 3 ounce cup licked clean, but maybe only a couple of drops were spilled.
It certainly made for comments from people passing by (and no she doesn't have a saddle, or eat a ton of food).
